What Gravel connects to

Gravel reads the mailboxes and calendars you connect, talks to you in Telegram or WhatsApp, with iMessage coming, and works with apps like Notion, Todoist and Linear.

What does Gravel connect to?

Gravel connects to your mailbox, your calendar, the messaging app you chat in, and the apps you already use. It starts with read-only access and asks for more the first time an action needs it.

KindWorks withWhat Gravel does
EmailGmail, Outlook, iCloud Mail, GMX, WEB.DE, T-Online, freenet, mailbox.org, Posteo, other IMAP mailboxesReads new mail, notices what needs you, drafts replies in your voice, sends from your own mailbox when you say send
CalendarGoogle Calendar, Outlook Calendar, iCloud Calendar, any CalDAV calendarReads events, spots clashes and changes, adds or moves entries after your yes
MessagingTelegram, WhatsApp, with iMessage comingWhere Gravel texts you and where you reply
AppsApps that offer an MCP server, with one-tap presets for 16 of themLooks things up and, after your yes, writes to the app
What you sendPhotos and PDFsReads a letter, bill or screenshot and tells you what matters

Every action follows the same rule: Gravel proposes, you say yes, and it reports back. See how it works.

Which email providers does Gravel work with?

Gravel works with Gmail and Outlook, plus iCloud Mail, GMX, WEB.DE, T-Online, freenet, mailbox.org, Posteo and other IMAP mailboxes.

MailboxHow you connect
GmailSign in with Google
OutlookSign in with Microsoft
iCloud Mail, GMX, WEB.DE, T-Online, freenet, mailbox.org, PosteoAn app password you create at your provider
Any other IMAP mailboxAn app password you create at your provider

With Google and Microsoft, Gravel gets an access token from the provider and never sees your password. For the others, you enter the app password on Gravel's connect page, never in the chat. The connect page also tells you which setting to turn on at your provider and where to create the password. App passwords are stored encrypted and are never shown to the AI model.

Once connected, Gravel looks back about 90 days, then follows new mail. It keeps the facts it finds rather than whole emails, and caches raw email for 30 days at most. It drafts replies the way you write, and sends from your own mailbox only when you say send.

Which calendars does Gravel work with?

Gravel works with Google Calendar, Outlook Calendar, iCloud Calendar and any CalDAV calendar.

It reads your events, notices when a meeting moves or two things clash, and holds non-urgent messages while you're in a meeting. It adds or changes entries only after your yes, and it asks for write access the first time it needs it.

See calendar conflicts for an example.

Which messaging apps does Gravel use?

During early access, Gravel talks to you in Telegram or WhatsApp. iMessage is coming. It is the same assistant on each, and you can switch with one message.

AppPageGood to know
TelegramAI assistant on TelegramAlso works in group chats, for shared reminders and lists
WhatsAppAI assistant on WhatsAppMessages run through WhatsApp, a Meta service
iMessageGravel for iMessageComing soon, through Apple's official Messages for Business route

Gravel always presents itself as an AI.

Which apps can Gravel connect to?

Gravel connects to apps over MCP, a standard way for an assistant to use an app. You can connect one of these with a tap, or add another MCP server by its web address if the server lets outside apps connect.

KindOne-tap presets
Notes and documentsNotion, Evernote, Readwise, Granola, Fireflies
Tasks and projectsTodoist, TickTick, Trello, Jira and Confluence, Linear, monday.com, ClickUp, Airtable, Miro
SchedulingCalendly, Cal.com

You sign in to each app with its own login, and Gravel stops using it when you disconnect. You can connect up to 10 apps. Gravel can look things up in a connected app right away. Anything that changes something in the app follows the same approval as every other action: Gravel proposes, you say yes.

Apple Shortcuts can also start things. Gravel gives you a private web address that a Shortcut can call, for example when you leave work, and then does what you told it to do for that event.

These apps are named so you can see what works with Gravel. Their names belong to their owners, and listing one does not mean a partnership.

What else can I send Gravel or point it at?

You can send Gravel photos and PDFs, and it can read and watch web pages.

  • Photos, screenshots and PDFs. Send a letter, a bill or a form. Gravel reads it once, tells you what it says and what's due, and acts on it with your yes. It keeps the text, encrypted, for 30 days so you can ask follow-up questions.
  • Web pages. Gravel can look things up and read a page. It can also watch one and message you when a price goes below a value, a text appears or disappears, or the page changes.
  • Your own routines. Describe something to repeat, like "every Monday at 8, send me an overview of my week", and Gravel sets it up after your yes.

What does Gravel not connect to?

Gravel does not connect to bank accounts, and it does not make phone calls. Both are things people ask about, so here is what is not part of Gravel today.

  • Banks. There is no bank connection.
  • Phone calls. Gravel never phones businesses or people on your behalf, and it always presents itself as an AI.
  • Apps that need an official registration first. Slack, Asana and Google Drive aren't on the list yet.
  • Other messaging apps. Gravel talks to you in Telegram and WhatsApp, with iMessage coming, and nowhere else.

Missing an app? Try adding its MCP server by web address, if the app offers one that lets outside apps connect.

Questions

Which calendars does Gravel work with?

Google Calendar, Outlook Calendar, iCloud Calendar and any CalDAV calendar.

Does Gravel work with Notion, Todoist and Linear?

Can Gravel see my passwords?

No. For Gmail and Outlook, Gravel gets an access token from the provider. App passwords are stored encrypted, entered on Gravel's connect page and never in the chat, and they are never shown to the AI model.

Can I disconnect something?

Yes. When you disconnect an app, Gravel stops using it. You can also export all your data with a one-time link, or delete your account and your key is destroyed, so nothing left can be read.
