An AI assistant that handles the school permission slip

That is what Gravel is designed for. In the example conversation above, Gravel texts: “Lily’s school sent a permission slip for the zoo trip, due tomorrow. I filled it in. Sign and send it?” You reply “send.” Gravel sends the slip to Ms. Park and puts the zoo trip on your calendar for Thursday at 9 AM.

You did not open the email, find the form, type the same details again or add the date to your calendar yourself.

Gravel reads the email you connect and notices what has a date on it. A permission slip due tomorrow is the kind of message it texts you about first, before the deadline passes.

Some school mail is urgent even when a machine sent it. Gravel treats a daycare closure as urgent even from an automated sender, so you hear about it. When a message has a deadline, you can also say yes to a reminder for the day before, at 9 AM.

Say “send.” That is the whole job. Gravel asks “Sign and send it?” because signing and sending speak for you, and it waits for your yes.

If you do not want it sent as filled in, say what to change or ignore the message. By default, nothing goes to a teacher or a school until you approve it.

Got the slip on paper instead? Text Gravel a photo or a PDF. It reads the file once to answer you, and keeps the text it read encrypted for 30 days.

Right after the slip goes out. Gravel adds the event with the date and time from the form: Thursday at 9 AM in the example.

It works with Google Calendar, Outlook Calendar, iCloud Calendar and any CalDAV calendar. The first time Gravel needs to write to your calendar, it asks for that permission. See integrations.

You stay in charge. Gravel tells you exactly what it will do, nothing goes out until you say yes, and it starts read-only.

Your data is encrypted with a key that belongs to your account only, and it is hosted and processed in the EU. Gravel does not train AI models on your data, and neither do its providers. Ask “what do you know about me?” to see what it remembers, tell it to forget anything, or export everything with a one-time link. See security.

Your email, so it can see the form, and your calendar, so it can add the trip. Gravel reads Gmail and Outlook (you sign in with Google or Microsoft), plus iCloud Mail, GMX, WEB.DE, T-Online, freenet, mailbox.org, Posteo and other IMAP mailboxes with an app password. Access starts read-only.
